With its minimalist design and powerful fitness tracking abilities, the Fitbit Charge 4 has everything we can expect from a smartwatch. For less than $120, this is still a good deal that is difficult to resist. If you liked the Fitbit Charge 3, you will enjoy the Charge 4 even more.
A sleek and elegant design
The Charge 4 weighs less than 30 grams and comes in black or rosewood (purplish red) colors. With is its sleek profile, the silicone wrist band is comfortable to wear all day long. You will almost forget that you are wearing a fitness tracker. Moreover, during your outdoor workout, the watch will not jiggle around, which is really appreciable.
Even during the night, the Charge can be worn without discomfort and record your sleep score without waking you up like bulkier trackers. This is because the Fitbit Charge 4 does not have any physical buttons. Instead, a pressure-sensitive area of the screen’s left side acts as a back button to easily navigate the menus.
The Rosebud wrist is a perfect match with any outfit and will not make you look like a nerd at the office. The grayscale OLED touchscreen is bright enough to check the information even though it may be a little difficult to read in bright daylight.
Perfect for runners
The Charge 4 offers a built-in GPS that connects quickly to the Fitbit app. No need to keep your phone to map your route. It is really a game-changer in the way your exercise outdoor. The heart rate zones will also change the way you exercise. The Fitbit Charge automatically calculates ideal target heart zones based on your age and resting heart rate. Once the zones are defined, the watch will buzz when moving from one zone to the next.
According to the American Heart Association, the optimum time is to spend 150 minutes in your ideal Heart Rate Zone. The Charge 4 will track your progress to achieve this goal. As your fitness improves, as will the heart zones. This feature goes beyond simply tracking your heart rate, distance, calories burnt, or the number of steps. It really makes the most of the tracker to improve your overall performance and heart health.
Like the Charge 3, this smartwatch is water-resistant up to 50 meters and can be used while exercising at the pool.
Good to know that the Charge 4 also comes with 6 free months to the Fitbit premium app. The app will give access to extra health data, personalized workouts, and advanced sleep tools. Combining the sleep data with blood oxygenation levels will be particularly useful for people suffering from sleep apnea.
More than a just fitness tracker
The Fitbit Charge 4 has all you can expect from a premium fitness tracker. It comes with six exercise shortcuts: Run, Bike, Swim, Treadmill, Outdoor Workout, Walk. In addition, when using the Fitbit app, there are more than 16 other activities you can have access to.
On the battery life side, the Charge 4 lasts approximately 7 days. Be aware, though, that the GPS will drain the battery in less than 5 hours.
This watch is much more than a fitness tracker and will make the most to Fitbit Pay to let you pay in retailers based in more than 44 countries. It can also be great to access transit systems without having to take your wallet out of your bag or pocket.
Unfortunately, for music lovers, the Charge 4 does not offer the possibility to download tracks and listen to your music while running. You will still need to bring your phone with you, but at least you will have the possibility to change the tracks on the Spotify app just by swiping on the screen.
The Fitbit Charge 4 is truly a great watch to use daily and not only for exercising. With the new models soon to be released, it may be time to benefit from price drops.
